200-MHz Timing Vernier IC Packs Eight Verniers In One Package

Nov. 1, 1998

Integrating eight independent verniers in a single package, the 200-MHz VSC6048 is a fully digital timing vernier IC for use in high-accuracy, low-cost ATE systems and benchtop instrumentation. Applications include: logic, mixed-signal and memory testers; burn-in testers; pulse generators; and timing margin testers for data-link, interface and disk-drive applications.Timing verniers are typically used as part of the timing generator in an ATE system to generate the timing edges or markers that drive the device under test. The VSC6048 IC provides 10-ps timing resolution with a 5-ns span for test rates up to 200 MHz and a 10-ns span for test rates up to 100 MHz. Because each vernier in the device operates "on-the-fly," timing can be dynamically reprogrammed for each pulse passing through the vernier. Samples are available now.
