Multi-Pair Flat Cable Serves Analog And Digital Audio Applications

Nov. 1, 1998

Specifically designed for both analog and digital audio applications, the AudioFlat line of flat cables is easily terminated with IDC connectors, enabling manufacturers to save more than 90% of installation costs, it's claimed. In contrast, connectorizing conventional audio snake cable is highly labor-intensive. As a result, the new cables are a good candidate for manufacturers of multi-channel audio equipment, such as mixers, consoles, patch panels, and recording and playback systems. The cables consist of twisted pairs and single ground wires laminated to a substrate. They're offered in configurations of 4, 8, 12 and 16 pairs in unshielded and overall foil-shielded types.
