Ultra-Low Resistance Current Sensors Debut

Jan. 1, 2002

Offered in two- and four-terminal Kelvin designs, the CSS Series power, metal-strip current sense resistors span a resistance range of 0.5 m½ to 0.2 m½ in tolerances of 1%, 3% and 5%. These surface-mount components can handle up to 45A at 1W while exhibiting inductance values of less than 0.1 nH at 100 and 300 KHz and continued stability beyond 300 MHz. These specs help qualify the CSS Series for use in precision current-sensing, battery-charging and power management circuits. Rated at 1W at 70¡C, the resistors offer TCRs as low as ±20 ppm/¡C and are rated for operation over a -40¡C to 125¡C temperature range. Typical pricing for the devices is about $0.50 each/1,000, with delivery times ranging from four to 12 weeks. TT ELECTRONICS, IRC Wirewound and Film Technologies Div., Boone, NC. (828) 264-8861.
