Design Tool Eases Network Building

Claiming to help users design a DeviceNet network with ease and accuracy, DeviceNet Assistant software is used to build a network, node by node, from the company's database of network components. As the desired topology is built, the application checks for possible configuration errors. It calculates electrical parameters and identifies potential problems, such as power supply and improper voltage problems. Users can choose the cable system and build the network by placing devices on the trunk line. Components are selected from the company's multi-vendor product catalog. As devices are selected, the software checks ranges and limits to see if all components selected fall within the required DeviceNet specification. The application costs $250 and will be available from the company's website early in the summer of 2000.
