Strategic Alliance To Sell Xicor ICs Into Smart Card Applications

A strategic alliance has been created for the purpose of selling ICs into smart-card applications. Emosyn, the fabless smart card venture of ATMI Inc., has the right to become the exclusive sales channel for Xicor Inc.'s IC products in chip or module form to customers who focus on smart-card applications. Xicor offers non-volatile, in-system-programmable products that retain information even when system power is turned off or inadvertently lost. Products include EEPROMs, non-volatile static RAMs, digitally controlled potentiometers, smart analog ICs, security ICs, and system management ICs. Additionally, Xicor and Emosyn will jointly define future IC products suitable for the smart-card industry to be manufactured by Xicor and sold by Emosyn.
