The entire line of Sony's lithium manganese dioxide coin cell batteries, including its battery holders, will be available to West Coast OEMs through House of Batteries, which will serve as both distributor and value-added assembler for the line. The lightweight lithium manganese dioxide batteries are used in CMOS and computer clock backup applications because of their 3.0V per cell rating and 10-year shelf life.Because the batteries are used in electrostatically-sensitive equipment, special assembly procedures are normally specified. House of Batteries says it exceeds industry standards here by assembling the batteries in an ESD and ISO9002-compliant facility using high frequency microprocessor-controlled welders.
