Lithium Coin Cells Have Ultra-Thin Profile

Aug. 1, 1999

At thicknesses of 0.5 mm and 1.2 mm, these ultra-thin lithium coin cells are suited for use in non-contact cards and ID tags. The 1.2-mm CR Series manganese dioxide lithium cells come in four diameters and capacities ranging from 18 to 100 mAh. Representing additions to the BR Series of polycarbonmonofluoride lithium batteries, the 0.5-mm coin cells come in capacities of 20 mAh (20-mm diameter) and 30 mAh (24-mm diameter) and can handle temperatures up to 85°C.The advances in battery technology were achieved by replacing the existing material for the gaskets and separators with a specially engineered plastic and by incorporating an electrolyte with a high boiling point, enabling the cells to maintain stable performance at relatively high temperatures.
