Transmit DAC Enables Direct IF Conversion

June 1, 2001

Offered as the industry's first direct IF-capable multi-mode d/a converter, the AD9772A eliminates an intermediate analog conversion stage to facilitate the use of software-defined radio architectures such as SoftCell. Compared to previous generations of the chip, it provides provides a -10 dB incremental improvement in IMD performance and a -6 to -8 dB reduction in PLL phase noise.
A 14-bit, 2x interpolating d/a converter delivers data rates up t 160 Msamples/s and an ACPR of 70 dB. The device comes in a 48-lead LQFP and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Price is $32.18 each/1,000.
