OLE For Process Control Comes To Windows CE

Nov. 1, 1998

Touted as the first Windows CE implementation of the OPC (OLE for process control) communications standard for distributed factory automation systems, the Intrinsyc DeviceCOM OPC Kit is a software tool that makes it easy for process control engineers to incorporate OPC communications into inexpensive Windows CE-based client and server devices such as sensors, actuators and soft PLCs. The software requires no programming and includes all the run-time libraries, OPC stub/proxy interface libraries and configuration utilities needed to add OPC functionality to a Windows CE platform. The kit also includes a sample test OPC client and server for Windows CE. For developers who need to create and access custom COM objects, a DeviceCOM ODK is also available.
