Designed for use by utility companies to provide advanced billing and load management services, MTC-30585 chip can be used at either end of the data link by selecting client or server modes of operation. The communications operates in the CENELEC approved A band of 9 to 95 kHz and is compliant with the North American specified General Use Band. Housed in a 28-pin PLCC, the device handles the Physical and Medium Access Controller layers as defined in the EIC-61334 protocol stack. The defined modulation technique is Spread-FSKwith a data rate up to 1440 bps. A 104-dB signal dynamic range gives the device excellent sensitivity to allow detection of the carrier frequency in less than perfect conditions on very long lines.
