Clock Generation Devices Deliver High Voltage Gain And Buffered Feedback

Dec. 1, 2001

This new series of differential amplifiers benefits the design of SONET/SDH, Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel and Infiniband reference clock-oscillator modules, as well as backplane and fiber optic module applications requiring improved input sensitivity. These devices address engineering needs for high gain, buffered feedback and output enabling requirements. Capable of operating at speeds greater than 3 GHz, these 3.3V to 5V devices are designed for OC-3, OC-12 and OC-48 applications. Both the MC100EP16VB and the MC100EP16VC incorporate high gain and the buffered feedback necessary to crystal oscillator applications. With typical edge speeds of 150 ps, both provide crisp clock edges. The MC10/100EP16A are straightforward, fully differential amplifiers. Their high-gain capabilities and fast edge rates make them attractive for pulse and limiting amplifier applications. Each device is available in standard SOIC-8, compact TSSOP, and die form. Pricing for each of the three devices is $2.76 for 10,000 units. ON SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
