Press Fit BNCs Into Rear Panels

Aug. 1, 1999

Interfacing to all standard BNC connectors, BNC Press Fit connectors are said to provide considerable benefits when compared with solder type connectors. Such advantages are contact shape of square pin in a round hole, contact material that gives a sufficient distortion of the contact to produce a gas tight connection, standard footprint that is identical to standard solder BNCs, low profile to save space and allow higher stacking density of cards, multiple insertion tooling of up to eight connectors simultaneously, range of extraction forces achieved in PCB holes between 1.3 and 1.5 mm diameters, consistent performance achieved by construction method and materials, and environmentally friendly press fit methods produce no fumes or chemical waste. Computer controlled press-in forces and fully tested terminations are provided by the Harting Ltd. monitor to ensure a secure, high-integrity termination every time.
