Metal Dome Array Employs Single-Layer Material

July 1, 2001

Incorporating a single-layer, pressure-sensitive material with either a single- or double-sided adhesive, a new metal-dome array exhibits an increase in the ability to retain the dome and an increase in tactile feel compared to traditional domes on adhesive. With proper lamination, it is noted that the dome cannot creep over or burrow under the spacer, a problem commonly occurring in conventional designs. The cost of these dome arrays is about the same as currently available domes plus material. They are available in any order, large or small, and in dome sizes of 6, 7, 8.5, 10.5, 12.2 and 16 mm with no setup or tooling charges.
