Intelligent Controller Aims To Fill 3G Wireless Needs

June 1, 2001

Claimed as the first intelligent ATM controller for third-generation wireless networks, the 4532 communications controller features an MPC8260 RISC processor, 4 MB of flash memory and 64 MB of SDRAM. This OC-3/STM-1 PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) is designed for carrier-class telecommunications networks supporting such ATM applications as broadband Internet Access, second- and third-generation wireless, and advanced intelligent network communications.
Fully standards compliant, the 4532 controller is a ready-to-use, single-port ATM line interface that comes with software development tools to facilitate integration into CompactPCI, VME or other telecommunications platforms. A software selectable interface for SONET OC-3 or SDH STM-1 enables the 4532 to support multiple international standards. In addition, the 4532 eliminates the need for additional line termination equipment by enabling direct interconnection to SONET and SDH facilities.
