Signal-Conditioning IC Provides Simultaneous V And I Outputs

April 1, 1999

Simultaneous and independent current (zero/4-20 mA) and voltage (0V to 5V/10V) outputs are provided by the Analog Microelectronics AM400 signal-conditioning IC. The SMT or DIP IC processes the differential output signals from a wide range of bridge circuits found in pressure, humidity, or other sensors. The device offers two parallel voltages (analog driver and A/D) and current output (two- or three-wire operation). All output ranges are independently adjustable. Using the A/D output, the sensor system can be digitally calibrated using an external microprocessor. There's a reference voltage (5V) and current for bridge excitation, as well as adjustable gain and offset.
