In a move designed to broaden Actel Corp.'s programmable logic product influence in Taiwan, the company has signed Maojet Technology as a distributor partner for its ProASIC product line. Under the agreement, Maojet Technology, an independent EDA software distributor, will distribute all ProASIC products, which include all devices in process of geometries of 0.25-µm and smaller, as well as GateField's ASICmaster design tools software. The decision to sign Maojet stemmed from the company's experience in distributing the ProASIC products for GateField in Taiwan. In August of this past year, Actel and GateField signed a strategic alliance which provides Actel with exclusive rights to market and sell the new ProASIC product family that is expected to support densities of up to half a million programmable logic gates. The 0.25-µm family is based on Flash technology and is both non-volatile and reprogrammable. The alliance further provides for migration to smaller process technologies with the potential to produce multi-million gate devices for the ASIC market.
