Edge-Card Connectors Target High-Speed Assignments

Dec. 1, 1999

Well-suited for use in connecting RIMM expansion memory systems in servers and workstations, these HiSpecGS edge-card connectors are said to perform reliably at 400 MHz on the 28 ohm Rambus channel. The HiSpecGS Memory Expansion Card Connectors (MECCs) employ the firm’s Ground by Design contact system, which involves use of longer power/ground contacts and shorter high-speed signal contacts to achieve lower insertion force, shorter signal electrical path, and lower loop inductance. The edge-card connectors come in two sizes: a 108-circuit connector for chipsets with a single-channel Rambus controller; and a 242-circuit connector for chipsets with dual-channel Rambus controllers.
