Hubs Permit Convergence Of Voice, Data And Power Over LAN Lines

March 1, 2001

Designed to supply power to IP telephones, wireless access points and other network devices over existing LAN cables, these Power-over-LAN hubs are installed between an Ethernet switch or hub and multiple Ethernet terminal devices. They help to create a unified source of data, voice and power by sending electricity over the unused portion of the commonly used standard Category 5 twisted pair cables. The 4006 hub is a six-port system developed specifically for the typical access point density of wireless LAN and Bluetooth in an Ethernet environment. It features plug-and-play compatibility with an auto-sensing capability that detects all enabled devices on the network. The 4012 and 4024 hubs address 12- and 24-port networks, respectively.
