Drop-In Unit Replaces Hard-To-Find Narrow SCSI Disk Drives

July 1, 2001

Offered as a form-fit-function replacement for hard-to-find SCSI narrow 2.5" and 3.5" disk drives in capacities to 20 GB, the company's replacement storage systems can be factory configured to match the geometry and command set of the original SCSI disk drives they replace. These units incorporate an IDE disk drive with proprietary electronics to faithfully emulate the operation of a narrow SCSI disk drive. The SCSI command set supports consistent system operation and is said to eliminate expensive disk-drive requalification with each new disk drive generation. The 3.5", 10-GB drive, the S35I2-10G, is priced at $350.00 each/1,000 with delivery from stock to eight weeks ARO.
