Thermal Software Seeks Cooling Optimization

Nov. 1, 2001

Optimizing the cooling system for an electronic product involves juggling design variables such as airflow rate, vent locations, heatsink size, etc. Included in the latest edition of the design-class thermal analysis software, Flotherm V3.2, the new Design of Experiments program, created by CQM in Holland, intelligently selects which calculations to run from the full range of possibilities defined by the user. Also new to the software is the ability to model two or more cooling fluids. Flotherm V3.2 is designed to run on Windows2000, NT, HP, Sun, IBM and SGI platforms. Annual licenses for the software start at $19,500. The upgrade, though, is free to existing users. FLOMERICS INC., Southborough, MA. (508) 357-2012.
