12-Bit ADCs Fit In QSOP Packages

Jan. 1, 2000

Designed for portable data acquisition and battery-powered applications, the MAX1290-MAX1297 parallel interfaces are 12-bit A/D converters that have samples rates as high as 420 ksps and fit in QSOP packages. The complete product family offers 8-bit and 12-bit interface options, 3V or 5V single-supply operation, an internal reference, and 2, 4, 6 or 8 input channels. The analog inputs are software configurable for unipolar/bipolar and single-ended/differential operation. The full-scale analog input range is determined by the internal 2.5V reference, or by an externally applied reference in the 1V to VDD range. The parts also feature VLOGIC pin and are claimed as the only parallel 12-bit ADCs able to interface directly with 1.8V to 5V digital supplies. Consuming only 1.5 mA at a sample rate of 100 ksps, the devices’ software power-down mode reduces supply current to less than 10 µA at slower sampling rates.
