18-Bit, 1-MHz Sampling ADC Is A First

product pic

Claimed as the world’s first 18-bit, 1-MHz sampling analog-to-digital converter, the ADS-951 uses a standard subranging (two-pass) architecture. As a result, it sidesteps the input-bandwidth limitations of high-resolution, sigma-delta ADCs. The device accommodates input-signal step changes, which enables it to work well in multi-channel, multiplexed applications and in electronic imaging uses.Key specifications include spurious-free dynamic range of 90 dB, total harmonic distortion of 89 dB, and signal-to-noise ratio of 89 dB. The 1.25W converter offers guaranteed no-missing-codes operation at the 18-bit level.
