Now offered is a high-reliability, MP-grade version of the LTC3412A, a highly efficient 4-MHz synchronous buck regulator that uses a constant-frequency, current-mode architecture. The regulator can deliver up to 3 A of continuous output current at voltages as low as 0.8 V from a thermally enhanced TSSOP-16 package. It operates from an input voltage range of 2.25 V to 5.5 V, suiting it for both single-cell Li-Ion, or NiMH applications, as well as more general-purpose fixed-rail systems. The MP-grade version is guaranteed to operate over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. The LTC3412AMP is meant for high-reliability applications that can experience a very wide ambient temperature range. It is programmable over a frequency range of 300 kHz to 4 MHz and offers a low quiescent current of 64 µA. The device’s internal switch offers a low RDS(ON) of 77 mOhms with output voltage accuracy of ±2%. Protection features include a power-good output voltage monitor and overtemperature protection. The LTC3412AMPFE is available in a TSSOP-16E package. Pricing starts at $6.45 each for 1,000-piece quantities. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA. (408) 432-1900.
