ADC Packs Eight Channels Into A TQFP-48

April 1, 2001

Claiming unmatched integration compared to other devices on the market, the ADS1216 provides an eight-channel multiplexer, programmable gain amplifier (PGA), input buffer, on-chip temperature sensor, and dual independent current d/a converters. The 24-bit, delta-sigma device operates from 2.7V to 5.25V and consumes less than 1 mW of power. Users can configure the eight input channels as differential pairs in any combination, allowing the device to connect and convert up to eight separate inputs. Burnout current sources give it the ability to detect an open circuit or short circuit condition on the analog input. In addition, the PGA also corrects for analog offset voltages up to one half of the full-scale range. Pricing is $7.45 each/1,000.
