ADC Runs On 5V, Converts At 1-Mbps Rate

Dec. 1, 1998

Capable of conversion rates to 1 Mbps, the MAX1205 is a 14-bit monolithic, CMOS A/D converter that operates at 5V. The device's fully differential pipelined architecture includes digital error correction and on-demand self-calibration, which together ensure 14-bit linearity at full sample rates by correcting for any internal mismatches or offsets. A built-in track/hold input stage allows dynamic performance up to Nyquest frequency. The device's differential inputs accept signal swings to ±VREF. The reference input is also differential, with additional sensing pins enabling it to compensate for any finite resistance in the chip and external traces.
