ADCs Function As Development Tool For Embedded Control Apps

May 1, 2000

Offering high performance and powerful development tool support for embedded control applications is the MCP300X family of four, 10-bit a/d converters. Based on a successive approximation register architecture, the devices feature 200 ks/s throughput, low power of 500 µA active and 5.0 nA standby, wide supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V, extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, ±1 LSB DNL and ±LSB INL maximum at 200 ks/s, guaranteed no missing codes, and a serial output with an industry-standard SPI bus interface.
The converters come in 1-, 2-, 4-, and 8-input channel versions (the MCP3001, MCP3002, MCP3004 and MCP3008) and in a variety of packages and pin counts. Applications include data acquisition, instrumentation and measurement, and industrial PCs. Pricing in lots of 1000 starts at $1.75 each for MCP3001.
