Assembly Cools Down Hot Running Servers

Jan. 1, 2001

Specifically targeting hot spots in server enclosures where heat loads can be as high as 4,500W, the PS server fan assembly allows the user to position the unit in the most critical location within the cabinet. The assembly uses two 220-cfm, high static pressure 6" fans with an option to include up to four. A seal between the fan assembly and the door ensures that the hot air is exhausted outside of the cabinet and does not escape through gaps and return back inside the enclosure.
In addition, the fans' shallow depth chassis permits the hot air to be exhausted out the rear of the enclosure reportedly at a higher rate than for traditional fans. Other features of the PS server fan assembly include a shallow depth, adjustable height, and installation with no cutouts required when used with a vented PS door.
