Avalanche Photodiode Includes Amplification

Feb. 1, 2002

The PSS-AD230-2.3-TO5 avalanche photodiode combines a 230-µm diameter, low-noise Si APD with a high-speed transimpedance amplifier in a hermetically sealed TO-5 package. The device responds to light in the 350 nm to 1,000-nm range and operates from a 3 to 6 V supply with a maximum current of 50 mA. It provides an output of 40 mVp-p for an input of 1 µW at 880 nm. Configured in this manner, the component can achieve a bandwidth up to 2.3 GHz. For further information and price, contact PACIFIC SILICON SENSOR INC., Westlake Village, CA. (818) 706-3400.
