Baluns Convert Twisted Pair To Coax

May 1, 2000

The Mini-Baluns provide a means of converting balanced 120 ohm voltage used in twisted pair cable to unbalanced 75 ohm voltage commonly used for coaxial cable. The connectors are used to change impedance and voltage reference in telecom switching equipment without the need to design separate 75 ohm and 120 ohm variants. The Mini-Baluns conform to the ITU G703 eye diagram in 2- to 34-Mb/s and 34- to 155-Mb/s versions. The connectors are fully shielded with low insertion loss and minimal crosstalk. A sharp knife and 10 mm wrench are all that is needed for installation. Price starts at $25.
