BGA Termination Network Suits SPI-2/3 Apps

Aug. 1, 2001

Targeting high-frequency and space-sensitive applications compliant to SPI-2, SPI-3 and above, the BB1020DT BGA line-termination network is a nine-line LVD SCSI terminator composed of 27 thick-film resistors on an alumina substrate with BGA terminations. The network employs a single-sided layout, with the solder balls and resistors on the same side with no internal vias and a lead-less frame. As a result, the network is substantially smaller compared to similar types of devices. In addition, the network's BGA package is said to reduce capacitance and lead inductance. Applications include scanners, hard-disk drives, and CD-ROMs. Pricing starts at under $1 each in quantity purchases. BI TECHNOLOGIES, Fullerton, CA. (714) 447-2345.
