Coprocessor Can Perform 50 Million Database Searches/s

Serving as a bridge between network processors and the company's LNI70XX search engines, the LNI8010 network database coprocessor is designed to enhance the interoperability with search engines and to accelerate network product design. Operating at its top speed of 100 MHz, the coprocessor can perform at a peak rate of 50 million searches per second.
The IC features a programmable 32-channel descriptor ring, allowing multiple contexts to be supported. The channels can be programmed independently to dynamically support packet processing from Layer-2 to Layer-5. The chip can also enhance QoS, CoS, VPN, packet classification and security designs by accelerating process speeds and adding more intelligence. The 3.3V coprocessor comes in a 388-pin BGA.
