Docking Connectors Tout High Mating Cycle Spec

June 1, 1999

Targeted for use in wireless and other handheld products, such as handheld computers, the KS10 docking connectors are available with a single row of up to 10 contacts spaced 0.083" apart and rated at 2.5A. The miniature connectors boast of a sturdy design that can withstand over 100,000 mating cycles and of a housing that both protects the contacts and helps facilitate mating. The docking connectors employ a hyperboloid-shaped socket contact system that helps provide an average insertion force per contact of only 1 oz. and a contact resistance of under 8 milliohms. They're also said to be virtually immune to shock and vibration. KS10 connectors come with solder cup or SMT terminals.
