Edge-Card Connectors Support Slot 2 Systems

Nov. 1, 1998

A fast edge rate and high contact density are promised by the HiSpec edge-card connectors for the Pentium II Xeon processor. The 330-contact Slot 2 connectors have three mating contact levels for low insertion forces, tolerance for low-cost daughtercard production, and speeds of over 200 MHz.Contacts are on 0.030" pitch for a total of 44 signal and 22 power/ground contacts per inch. Rise times are 220 ps with characteristic impedance of 50 ohms. Lead times are four to six weeks.
