Fiber Optics Debut In Mass Interconnect Systems

Aug. 1, 2000

Claimed to represent the first use of fiber optics in a mass interconnect system, the Fiber Optic Module holds up to 14 fiber optics termini and allows the engineer to configure according to testing needs. Fiber optic patchcords can be purchased separately and are designed for ease of installation, removal and cleaning. The fiber optics termini has an insertion loss of 0.5 dB maximum, a return loss of -35 dB or better and an engagement force of 1.5 lbs. per termini. The company's fiber optics connection performance is rated up to 2,000 cycles. Cleaning and inspection is accomplished using standard equipment. Pricing is $100 per line.
