The CMX991, a high-performance integrated rf quadrature/low-IF transceiver IC, features an advanced image-reject up-conversion modulation system and flexible superheterodyne receiver. The IC integrates the core functions needed to implement a high performance rf transceiver subsystem with I/Q architecture capable of supporting multiple modulation types and bandwidth. It is tailored for operation from 100 MHz to 1 GHz for devices with up to 2-MHz rf channels. Features include excellent intermodulation performance, an on-chip first mixer, direct access to transmit and receive IF sections, and a flexible selection of external components for multi-mode operation. The receiver supports a low-IF output mode for designers using “Sample at IF” techniques. The device operates at 3.3 V (1.8 V I/O) and comes in a 48-pin VQFN package. The CMX991 is available now with a quantity guide price of $10.00. An evaluation kit (EV9910B) is available to help designers experiment with the IC.
