Image Sensor Has 15-Bit Dynamic Range

The 8-kpixel KL-8023 tri-linear CCD image sensor has a 15-bit dynamic range and offers several improvements over the company's KLI-8013 sensor. Designed for film and image-scanning applications for the graphic arts market, the CCD image sensor features 9 mm2 pixels arranged in three rows of red, green and blue photo elements.
According to the company, the sensor's pinned photodiodes improve sensitivity, lower noise, and eliminate lag. A color filter material is said to boost response by over 2.5x in the blue region of the visible spectrum to 19V/uj/cm2.
