Jumpers Have Kapton Insulation

April 1, 1999

Insulated with flame retardant Kapton, which is said to offer excellent insulating properties and improved resistance to effects of wear, abrasion, and high solder temperature, Staked Flex Jumpers are well-suited for military and space applications. The jumpers combine thin, flexible solid copper conductors equivalent to 26 AWG wire embedded between layers of tough, flexible insulation. Kapton provides a resistance of 100,000 Megaohms and a dielectric of 4000V/mil. Insulation can be processed with IR/vapor-phase/wave soldering techniques without blistering or delaminating after 10 minutes at 500°F.
