Laser Bar Code Scanner Seeks Embedded Design Uses

Dec. 1, 1998

A low-cost, high-performance laser bar code scanner for embedded applications, Model 10 performs up to 300 scans per second at a ±40° angle and provides 4.5" coverage at a 2" distance. Housed in a compact IP-65/NEMA 4-rated enclosure, the scanner is expected to find use in blood analyzers, video tape machines, ATMs, kiosks, machine tools, document handling, pharmaceutical code verification systems, data cassette retrieval systems, and more. Fault-tolerant I/Os protect against field miswiring, and solid-state outputs interface directly with PLCs requiring current sourcing or sinking. Visual diagnostics verify scanning efficiency to simplify installation.
