Lithium Manganese Dioxide Coin Cell Is Smaller Than A Dime

Claimed as one of the smallest lithium cells available, the new CR1612 lithium/manganese dioxide (Li/MnO2) coin cell is smaller and thinner than a U. S. dime. Measuring just 16 mm in diameter by 1.2 mm thick, the CR1612 coin cell provides 3V with a capacity of 40 mAh. Other characteristics are a weight of 0.9 grams and an operating temperature range of-20¡C to +85¡C. Intended for use in watches, PDAs, IC/RF security and identification cards, and electronic games, the new cell is said to also offer stable discharge characteristics with a low internal resistance, high operating voltage, superior leakage resistance, and excellent storage capabilities.
