LNAs Extend Battery Life

Aug. 1, 2000

Claimed to lower operating currents by 30% compared to the company's existing devices, the TQ3132 and TQ3632 low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) are said to be suitable for applications where long battery life is needed. The TQ3132 LNA is designed specifically for cellular-band CDMA/AMPS receive applications and the TQ3632 is for use in PCS-band and CDMA-receive applications, meeting the requirements of both IS-95 and AMPS standards. When used as a pair, the devices provide tri-mode operation in the 800- and 1,900-MHz bands. Noise figures for both are 1.4 dB at 800 MHz and 1.5 dB at 1,900 MHz. Both incorporate on-chip switches that select high, low and bypass gain modes. In SOT23-8 packages, pricing is $0.97 each/1,000.
