Expanding the PICmicro family of microcontrollers, the PIC16F85 and PIC16F86 provided increased program and data memory, four channels of eight-bit a/d conversion, and two analog comparators. Operating on 2V to 5.5V, the PIC16F85 provides 1,024 x 14 bits of self-programmable flash memory while the PIC16F86 includes 2,048 x 14 bits. Both include up to 128 bytes of user SRAM and 64 bytes of data EEPROM. The comparators allow external access to the outputs and programmable input multiplexing, which also allows the use of the internal reference voltage. Peripherals include a brown-out reset, 15 I/O pins with 25 mA source/sink, an eight-bit timer, a watchdog timer, in-circuit serial programming, and support for in-circuit debugging.
