Mini IC Card Connectors Have Only Six Pins

Aug. 1, 1998

Measuring only 1-1/8"L x 5/8"W x 1/8"H and operational from -40°C to 90°C , the XR7A IC card connector is well suited for use in cell phones and other telecomm products, as well as in chip card reader applications. Its miniature size is due to the use of six rather than eight pins- because the electrical characteristics of the two lower pins of standard 8-pin connectors have not been defined by ISO, they were eliminated. The XR7A connector is rated at 0.5A at 125 vac and has a contact resistance of 100 milliohm max. (at 20 mV dc, 100 mA).
