Modem IC Boasts Of High Integration

July 1, 1999

A highly integrated chip combines all the controller and data-pump functions necessary to implement intelligent V.22bis and below data modems. The 73M2901 modem IC is designed for use in set-top boxes, credit-card readers ,and numerous other embedded applications. The single-chip modem is capable of data transmission and reception at rates to 2400 bps.The IC’s design is based on the firm’s implementation of the standard 8032 MCU core with a proprietary coprocessor. It provides an internal hybrid, country-specific call progress and CTR-21 support. Other features include an AT command set and DTMF tone generation and detection.
