New Headers And Receptacles Boast Of Low Insertion Loss

Aug. 1, 2001

Offered as the latest addition to the Metral connector family, the Metral 4000 uses a unique stripline structure in both the receptacle and header, with the contact geometry of the receptacle optimized for 100½ differential pairs. At frequencies typical of a 5 Gb/s data rate, insertion loss through a de-embedded mated connector is 0.5 dB. The connectors are available in 5 x 6 and 8 x 12 position models. The connectors will be initially offered for about $0.18 to $0.22 per mated signal line, depending on quantity. For further information, call FCI USA INC., Etters, PA. (800) 237-2374.
