Physical Design Reuse Module Allows For Circuitry Reuse

Oct. 1, 1999

The need for time-consuming recreation of design elements is said to be eliminated with a new software module for physical design reuse (PDR), which allows customers to reuse circuitry while maintaining the physical integrity of the layout. The module is available with the firm's PowerPCB 3.0 and PowerBGA systems. The module provides the functionality and methodology to support the creation, saving and placement of physical reuse elements independent of the schematic source. It supports circuit replication and multi-channel designs by allowing the user to reuse proven circuits in designs. A key feature is the Make Reuse function for creating and saving reuse elements to a PDR library. A second key feature supports multi-channel designs by allowing users to create or place a reuse element in a design and then replicate that element within the same design.
