Ribbon Cable Fits Most Fiber Optic Uses

May 1, 2000

The Flex-Lite fiber optic ribbon cables are available with industry-standard MPO connectors for telecomm and computing applications. The fiber optic ribbon interconnects are made using a proprietary expanded PTFE buffering system and can perform more than 1000 flex cycles on a 1/2" bend radius using standard gang connectors and splices. The cables are designed for use with the firm's 12-channel nLIGHTEN modules that have firm's high-speed VCSEL technology providing up to 1.5 Gb/s per channel over multimode ribbon fiber cable and an 8X improvement in density over standard 1x9 serial transceiver products. The cables use standard MPO ribbon fiber connectors IEC 1754-7 and TIA/EIA 604-5.
