Rotary Switch’s Panel Profile Is Just 0.080" Thick

Nov. 1, 1999

Claimed as the world's first and only ultra thin flat panel electronic rotary switch with a non-invasive panel profile of less than 0.080" thick, the Rotor operates by creating a magnetic field that, when the knob is turned, rolls gold plated balls over a printed membrane to open, close, or vary the electronic circuit. The design is intrinsically sealed against harsh environments and prevents foreign matter such as dust or liquids from entering the switch and interfering with contact. The device can withstand mechanical shocks in excess of 200G and will reportedly function at temperatures ranging between -40°C and 85°C.Available as an analog potentiometer, multi-bit encoder, or dual-function push-and-turn switch, the device is highly versatile, and a variety of product designs are offered. Custom knobs are also available.
