SMT PGA Socket Holds Celeron Processors

Feb. 1, 2001

A new 370-pin surface mount PGA socket has been designed for the high-speed Intel Celeron microprocessor. The sockets have integral tabs for mounting a heatsink plus a fan. With a 0.2" high profile, the socket has floating contacts that maintain contact with the solder paste and assure coplanarity during the reflow process. Ultra-low insertion force contacts permit hand installation of the processor and easy removal with the blade of a screwdriver. A large window in the socket allows decoupling capacitors to be placed beneath the processor. A removable vacuum plate is available for automated placement. The 370-pin PGA socket with tin plated pins and gold plated contacts (P/N: S513-93-370-69-129885) costs $13.165 each/1,000.
