Access to a common set of high-performance tools that facilitate development of applications on and for Sun Solaris operating environment is provided under an agreement between the firm and Sun Microsystems under which Cygnus will deliver its GNUPro software development tools for Solaris 7 operating environment for the UltraSPARC and Intel 32-bit processors. GNUPro allows developers to write software that is portable across multiple operating systems and microprocessors. As part of the agreement, Cygnus will implement full 64-bit UltraSPARC support to enhance the existing Solaris SPARC version of the open-source GNUPro tools. The firm will also port GNUPro to Solaris for the Intel 32-bit processor. Both toolchains support multi-threaded debugging capabilities. The GNUPro Toolkit for Sun Solaris will be available during the first half of 2000.
