Three-Volt, Dual-Trip-Point Sensor Closely Monitors CPU Temperatures

product pic

The MC623 solid-state, programmable, 3-V dual-trip- point temperature sensor is housed in an eight-pin SOIC package, making it small enough to be located near CPU chips. The device is equipped with an accurate temperature sensing mechanism and provides early warning to system CPUs of impending overheating and also provides shutdown protection when necessary.
Operating voltage for the MC623 ranges from 2.7V to 5.5V, allowing it to be used for a wide range of applications, including battery-operated products. Both the high- and low-limit set points have a ±2°C built-in hysteresis to prevent chattering.
Other features include a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, on-chip temperature sense, two independent temperature limit outputs, and a shutdown mode. Pricing is $1.37 each/ 10,000.
